Replacing Salesforce with an in-house CRM module
A £56,000 annual licence, replaced by functionality built into a platform the business already owned.
The challenge
The business was paying a substantial annual Salesforce subscription for sales functionality that, on inspection, largely duplicated capability already present in its core CRM platform. The spend had become habitual rather than justified, and nobody had recently tested whether it was still the right answer.
What I did
Rather than assume the licence was wasteful, I scoped what the sales team actually needed and mapped it against what the existing platform could do. The gap was real but far smaller than the licence implied. I designed and delivered a full sales module inside the existing CRM to close that gap, then ran a wider licensing review across the business, which also identified a DocuSign replacement.
The outcome
£56,000 saved annually on Salesforce alone, with the sales team on a system that sits alongside the rest of the business data rather than beside it. Combined with the wider licensing work, this contributed to six-figure savings against the annual IT budget.
